Nestora Piarote Granillo (1849-1918) was a tiwa potter who fought her way of life and people.

  Piarote was born and raised in the Ysleta Del Sur Pueblo and spoke the native Tiwa language which she also helped preserve. Tribal official said she has more than 800 tribal descendants.
